“The Perry Bible Fellowship” is amusing to me, as a name, because it’s probably the worst name for a comic strip ever. (Nicholas Gurewitch)’

The Perry Bible Fellowship (PBF for short) is a comic strip published in a number of newspapers and several school papers in the US, a couple of newspapers in Canada, The Guardian (newspaper) in the UK, a few different magazines worldwide, and as a webcomic at dedicated website http://pbfcomics.com/. The PBF has been around since about 2001 in one form or another, but the current official PBF website only started in the later half of 2006 and production of new comic strips is and has been sporadic. There are currently over 200 strips, usually comprising of a short joke in just 3 or 4 panels, with both the type of humour and art style often varying. The PBF’s author is American artist Nicholas Gurewitch, who has won several awards for PBF.

The comic strips themselves as well a small number of other works by the author and information about him and it can be found at the official site linked above. The PBF is an excellent read, it’s extremely well drawn and is often hilarious. Much time can be spent exploring all the comic strips available on the website and I’ve found it a particularly good stop whenever I’ve wanted a quick laugh. Gurewitch stated earlier this year that he’s cutting back on production of new material so readers are unlikely to see more then one new comic strip a month, however this is understandable when you consider it’s just a hobby and he has never considered drawing PBF a career.
