As a stereotypical high volume internet user it is 3 o’clock in the morning that I decide to write this. I am most commonly referred to as Ashleigh, the Web Designer. It’s quite comical how my profession has tacked itself on to the end of my name, but what’s a girl to do - that is how I am usually introduced to people. It’s either Ashleigh, the Web Designer or Ashleigh, the Australian girl.
As this is my first post after being given a blogging position here on Infinite Critique (courtesy of Upstart Blogger) I am going to go into a bit of essential (and not so essential) background information about myself.
- My name is Ashleigh.
- I am a 20 year old Australian girl.
- I live in Telford, England.
- I am a freelance web designer.
- I ‘designed’ my first website at age 11.
- I say “designed” because it was rubbish.
- I have a Certificate III in Multimedia and a Diploma in Information Technology (Website Development).
- I won an award (and $2,000) from the Australian Government for my web design talent in 2005.
- My boyfriend of three years is a rockstar.
- I met my boyfriend on the internet.
- I even moved to England for him.
- I have a ragdoll cat named Link.
- I paid £375 for him.
- I call him Puddle.
- Pud when he’s naughty, which is often.
- I am a entry level entrepreneur.
- I had to check how to spell that.
- I manage two blogs; this one and that one.
- I am a geek.
- I see websites when I close my eyes.
- I like Stargate, Stargate Atlantis and Sliders.
- I like anime, manga and playing games.
- I am human.
Over the coming months I hope to get to know you all in a list-like manner similar to the above. It really is more fun to tell people about yourself randomly instead of providing the usual details in the usual way. My main objective here at Infinite Critique will be to share my insight into web design, search engine optimization, the internet, technology and what it’s like to grow up as a girl in a more commonly male profession.
Nice to meet you all!
Ashleigh

Nice post! yeah, it’s nice to know more people with their detailed likes, traits or personality. Being a we designer is not a male profession. It is open to all. Just believe in your self that you can be a good one. Don’t mind about the sexes or the type of work you have. As long as you enjoy what you are doing and it is legal job and that’s it.
