I guess great January numbers aren’t helping Borders Books that much.
In my neighborhood, there used to be three big chain bookstores at one point: Barnes & Noble, Bookstar, and Borders. Well, Bookstar went kaput first. And according to this NYT piece, Borders will be next, most likely gobbled up by B&N.
And it’s not just the internet, as we all like to point to for ANY and ALL kinds of problems. It’s the Wal-Marts and the Costco’s.
Big fish eats little fish. Bigger fish eats big fish.
